Mt. Lebanon 1
Losing 15 players and no returning starters the SV baseball team
picked up right where they left off last year with an impressive
win over visiting Mt. Lebanon 9 – 1 to start
the 2009 season. Tied 1 – 1 going into the 6th
inning the Raiders bats came alive scoring 8 runs. Nick Kendrick
picked up the win for SV, while Jay Condit was impressive in his
start allowing just one run on 4 hits in 5 innings.

Baldwin 8
The Raiders improved their record to 2 – 0 by defeating a very
good Baldwin team 12 – 8. Blake Henderson went 3 – 3 and 2
stolen bases to the lead the Raiders offensively while Matt
Kloos pitched 2 solid innings to pick up the win.
Seneca Valley 11
North Catholic 3
Entering the last non section game before section play begins
the Raiders defeated North Catholic 11 – 3 to improve their
record to 3 – 0. Leading the way for the Raiders offensively was
Jake Double going 2 – 3 with a stolen base and run scored. Nick
Kendrick pitched 3 innings for the Raiders to pick up his 2nd
win of the year.

North Hills 1
In the first section game of the year the Raiders were in mid
season form belting out 16 hits with 6 doubles to beat North
Hills 17 – 1 in five innings. Scoring 10 runs in the first
inning the Raiders never looked back. Mike Hughes and Matt
Plautz led the Raiders having three hits and a double each.
Vinnie Rice also added to the offense going 2 – 3 with 2
doubles. Nick Kendrick pitched 5 innings for the Raiders
allowing only one hit and one run. Nick is now 3 – 0 for the
season. The Raiders will play Fox Chapel @ home April 9th.

Fox Chapel 3
The Raiders improved their record to 5 – 0 and 2
– 0 in the section by defeating Fox Chapel 10 – 3. Jay Condit
threw 5 solid innings to pick up the victory for the Raiders.
Sam Bucci threw 2 innings to secure the win. Leading the Raiders
offensively were Mike Hughes going 2 – 4 with a double and
homerun. Vinnie Rice and Jay Condit also hit homeruns for the
Raiders. The Raiders next game is at home vs. Shaler Monday
April 13th.

Shaler 2
The Raiders came from behind to win a thrilling
game against Shaler
3 – 2. Behind 2 – 1 with two outs and nobody on in the
bottom of the 7th, the Raiders staged a come back.
Vinnie Rice and Dave Coradi both walked to set the table for
Zach Motyl. Zach lined a singled to right field that was miss
played by the right fielder and went all the way to the wall
scoring both runners. This improves the Raiders to 6 – 0 overall
and 3 – 0 in section play. Nick Kendrick pitched all 7 innings
for the Raiders only allowing 3 hits while striking out 8. Nick
is now 4 – 0 on the season. The Raiders will travel to Pine
Richland Wednesday for a 3:30 start.

The Raiders experienced their first loss of the season by losing
to N.A. 4 – 3. Jay Condit pitched well enough to earn the
victory but the offense was not quite there for the Raiders that
sealed the victory for N.A. The Raiders travel to Pine Richland
for their next section game.

Due to a miscue the Raiders forfeited their 2nd
section loss. This brings the Raiders record to 6 – 2 overall
and 3 – 2 in section.

Butler 7
The Raiders dropped their 3rd in a row to the Butler
Tornadoes. Butler jumped out early and the Raiders were never
able to get back into the game. The Raiders are now 6 – 3
overall and 4 – 3 in section.

Fox Chapel 0
The Raiders got back on the winning track by defeating Fox
Chapel 5 – 0. Nick Kendrick pitched a No – Hitter striking out
12 and only walking 1. The offense was led by Jay Condit going 3
– 4 on the day. The Raiders are now 7 – 3 and 4 – 3 in section
play.
