5/7 SV vs. Butler |
|
SV came out with the win yesterday against Butler that was
solidified by Dave Coradi by hitting a two run homerun in
the 6th inning giving the Raiders a 7-5 victory. The win was
another fundamentally sound performance by the team with
offensive contributions from Jake Double hitting a triple,
Jay Condit who was a homerun away from from hitting for the
cycle, and John Batista with two singles to get the offense
started. Nick Kendrick pitched 5 and 2/3 innings and while
he issued a lot of walks to Butler, he was able to
successfully hold them off by recording strikeouts and
getting outs in key situations. Sam Bucci finished the game
not allowing any runs and shutting down the Butler offense. |
|
5/5 SV vs. Pine Richland |
|
Collectively as a team we played a very fundamentally sound
game taking the win 8-2. Matt Kloos pitched 6 innings
allowing only the two runs both of which were walks. Matt
pithced an excellent game shutting down the Pine Richland
offense. Sam Bucci pitched the last inning not allowing any
runs. Offensively the raiders produced 8 runs with the help
of Dave Coradi going 4 for 4 and many others contributing in
key situations offensively. |
|
5/1 SV vs. Shaler |
|
The Raiders unfortunately came up short on Friday, losing
both games of the double header. The two teams played two
five inning games. The Raiders had a multitude of
opportunities, but lost 3-2 in the first game and 6-3 in the
second game. We received good pitching performances from Max
Vickerman, Blake Henderson, and Nick Kendrick. The Raiders
threatened a few times with runners in scoring position, but
could not drive home enough runs to solidify a win. We have
two games left in the season and look forward to finishing
with two more victories. |
|
4/29 SV vs. North Hills |
|
The SV Raiders played an awesome game against North Hills as
we scored 19 runs from a team hitting spree. Everyone had
contributed as they took advantage of the opportunity by
only recording one strike out as a team in the seven
innings. The Raiders were able to string multiple hits
together in most of the innings. Dave Coradi pitched a
complete game allowing 6 runs. |
|
4/23 SV vs. Kiski |
|
Kiski conceded the win yesterday after the game on Wednesday
was stopped due to rain. We were winning 7-0 in the bottom
of the third inning with bases loaded and 1 out. The offense
was very effective in scoring the seven runs, which was led
by a homerun by Matt Kloos. Matt Parnes pitched the three
innings and did an excellent job not allowing any runs. |
|
4/21 SV vs. North Allegheny |
The game summary for yesterday's game against North
Allegheny was that we lost 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh
inning. We got off to a 2-0 lead in the third inning from a
lead off double by Derrick Wood and good execution by Chris
Dorogy and Blake Henderson. We scored again in the 6th
inning from a collection of hits from Jay Condit, John
Batista, Zach Motyl, and Derrick Wood. As a team we played
an excellent game and game 100% effort until the last play
of the game which was a diving play attempt in center field
by Jay Condit, who made a great diving catch earlier in the
game. Nick Kendrick and Matt Kloos both had great pitching
performances on the mound by registering 9 strikeouts and
only 2 walks together. Great effort Raiders!

|
4/19 SV vs. Mt. Lebanon |
Mt. Lebanon it was more of the same with too many errors in
the field which allowed the opposition to prevail. Great
pitching performances from Chris Dorogy, Sam Bucci, and Zach
Motyl. This left us with a lot of frustration that will
hopefully be overcome as we begin the second half of the
season. Raiders lost 8-4.
|
|
4/17 SV vs. Butler |
We hit the ball well against Butler, but made too many
errors and gave too many walks to recover from. Matt Parnes
pitched in relief and provided us with a solid performance
to give a chance to win. Raiders lost 10-4.
|
|
4/14 SV vs. Pine Richland |
Pine Richland results include: The JV team lost 5-4 in a
close battle where we ended up on the losing side. The
raiders neglected to take advantage of and execute the
opportunities that they worked hard to developed. Matt Kloos
went 2 for 3 and Chris Dorogy went 2 for 2. On the mound
Nick Kendrick pitched 4 innings striking out 9 Pine Richland
hitters while only walking one. Blake Henderson came in as
relief, pitching the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings and not
allowing any runs, which provided us with the ability to
stay in the game.
|
|
4/7 SV vs. North Hills |
The Raiders for
the third game this season 10 runned the opposing team in 5
innings with an offensive explosion. As a team we collected
14 runs on 18 hits. major contributors were Jay Condit and
Blake Henderson going 2 for 2 and Derrick Wood going 3 for
4. Pitching for the Raiders was Max Vickerman and Chris
Dorogy both of which did not allow an earned run. Max went
three innings keeping the North Hills hitters off balance
while not allowing any walks. Chris Dorogy pitched the 4th
and 5th innings and despite a few fielding errors in the
field also dismantled the North Hills hitters.
|
|
4/2 game vs. North Allegheny |
We struggled to
get a foothold after falling behind 3-0 after the first
inning. NA posted another 4 run inning in the second. NA put
together 3 homeruns against us to create their 7-0 victory.
The SV Raiders did not give up as they threatened every
inning with solid hits and runners in scoring position where
we failed to capitalize on those opportunities. Jay Condit
started the game and although allowed the 3 homeruns, did
not back down from the hitters and found his groove in the
third inning. Nick Kendrick pitched the 4th and 5th innings
allowing no runs coupled with some outstanding defensive
plays, like a diving catch in right field by Dave Coradi.
Matt Kloos pitched the last two innings allowing no runs and
keeping the NA hitters off balance.
|
|
3/26 game vs. Baldwin: |
The SV Raiders did
it again with another ten run rule in five innings with an
offensive barrage of 12 hits scoring 11 runs. Evan Hetzel
and Jake Double were 2 for 2 while Jake connected with a
double and a grand slam home run to solidify the lead with
five RBI's. Max Vickerman pitched 4 innings striking out 7
while letting up only one walk. Nick Kendrick pitched the
last inning knocking out Baldwin in order with two strike
outs.
